Exceptional Snow Day on the Trail

Dramatic Light
Dramatic Light

When I saw the snow this morning, just an inch or two carefully blanketing each branch and twig in the tree outside my window I knew what my destiny would be if the snow stopped and the sun came out.

In the Valley

It did, and I headed for the Panhandle Trail, on foot just planning about an hour of photos in the first half mile of the trail.

Into the Blue

Mission accomplished, and in the process I found some wonderful things.

Icy Woods

These are a few of my favorites, and below is a gallery of the rest of my favorites. Well, there are more than this, but this is where I had to stop.

Ice Storm

Enjoy the gallery! Eventually I will choose a selection to offer as prints, but if you’d like a print of any of the photos, please send me an email.

  1. It really was a beautiful day when the sun started to peek out! Great photos! I’ll have to find this trail and check it out in person.

    1. Thank you! I forgot to add the link to the Panhandle Trail in the article: http://www.panhandletrail.org. You’ll find a map on the site with all the entrances. I was on the section that’s in Collier Township, the first four miles from the trailhead in Walker’s Mill to just before entering Oakdale borough.

    1. Lynn, I did get a few in the back yard before I left, but I ended up spending the whole day on that project, from photographing for about an hour to culling through and editing the photos yesterday. That’s okay, a set of photos like that is a forever set–I’ll choose photos to sell, I’ll use them in designs, I’ll create artwork from them, I have my annual exhibit of art and photos during the trail’s annual event and I am on the trail’s council and manage the website and design materials and signage for it so in time it will all pay off for me. Today feels unbearable though it’s been colder!
