Sunset in the Woods

Sunset in the Woods, in Settler’s Cabin Park.

On my way home from errands out that way I cut through Settler’s Cabin Park, high on a ridge, facing the west. I could see the sky in the west was getting ready to perform but when I got there I thought I’d missed it as heavy cloud cover seemed to be moving in. I only had a cell phone, so that was probably okay as the one I had did not capture anything with much accuracy.

I left my favorite sunset spot to head home and as I passed another view of the west through light woods at the top of a hill I saw a bright red sun dropping below the cloud cover, and lots of colors in the sky. The little phone did it some justice in one of 12 shots. It’s amazing how eager the sun is to drop below the horizon.
