Seasonally Confused

forsythia flowers in december
Seasonally Confused

The forsythia is only one of several perennial shrubs that bloomed a second time this year, usually in autumn. This particular forsythia has been blooming for over a month, and it’s got quite a selection of buds to keep it going.

Plants will do this when their blooming season didn’t permit them to bloom as usual, like an extra dry spring. Later in the year, when the conditions are good for blooming, the plant will start opening buds.
