And Now Goldfinches in the Catnip

Goldfinches can be such clowns, hanging upside down, and twisting themselves around branches, and their constant chirping-cheeping speech.

On another morning I managed to capture quite a few photos of the male goldfinch, so bright! But many were taken through my screen door and were just a little too blurry, one hazard of photographing birds outside in the summer. These two were taken through the screen as well, but I could sharpen them up enough.

I had noticed the finches visited my native forget-me-nots when they went to seed, but this is the first time I’ve seen them in the catnip. It’s a wild native plant and showed up in my yard years ago and my cats have been pretty happy about that. Guess the finches just found it and are pretty happy with it too. Another reason to grow catnip.
