Hi

Red-veined Darter
Red-veined Darter

A Red-veined Darter dragonfly is ready to make your acquaintance.

There was some territorial drama at the quarry pond yesterday when these two were vying for the same little clump of grass. I’d like to think they were vying for having their photos taken, but I doubt that, though each of them did hold still for just long enough for me to get a clear photo with my zoom lens. I didn’t want to follow them around with the lens, trying to focus, because I would have fallen off the rock I was standing on into the pond, and I didn’t want to break my perfect record of never falling when photographing out in nature.

Below, a Blue-eyed Darner has control over the grasses. It was a good day.
