Feeding Time for Cardinals Hungry fledgling. Many of the birds in my yard had a second nest this year. Everyone got started late, and I know we had some losses with the late snows in April. So here we are, actually from the end of August, just a few days ago, and daddy is still feeding the babies. Snacks But there’s a lesson here. All that stuff on the ground is seed dumped on the ground by the pesky squirrel, and daddy is teaching the little one how to pick up the seeds. One more. So the little one gives it a try on his own. He’s catching on. Well, a first meal on his own. Yes, he can do this. More young animals to come!
