Dogwood

My dogwood is blooming. I love their airy blossoms like butterflies suspended in air. This one is native to our woods, and I dug it up from the woods on an old abandoned farm that was about to be plowed under for a new housing development. I added it to the collection of trees already in my yard, but along the south edge so along with the river birches it would shade the house in summer but not grow huge and heavy. Each spring I start checking for the flowers as the days grow a little longer, then, suddenly, one day, it’s in full bloom.
