Well, Hello Everyone Well, Hello Everyone. The first phlox plant is blooming and soon the entire bed as well as other areas around the yard will be filled with pink blooms. It’s been interesting over the years to see the variation among them all though. I’ve seen petals striped with white or flowers with white or red centers, white flowers with pink or red centers, a lighter or darker pink, individual plants in a bed of one that’s different or even a few different flowers on one plant. The tall plants will continue to bloom in to autumn. Tall phlox, garden phlox or Phlox paniculata, is native to the east and central US, but it’s hard to tell because garden varieties were produced and may have outpaced the natives and are in gardens everywhere. It’s highly attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds—and hummingbird moths I’ll add because I see them just as often around my phlox clumps as other critters. . . . . . . . Follow me on Instagram.
