Flash of Color

Just a flash of color amid the layers of deep blue clouds of moisture at the end of the day. The clear sky above indicates that the rain has stopped, at least for a while.

We’ve had one day of sun in the past seven days and the rainfall has been loudly intense at some points. It’s interesting how storms will clear around sunset, even if only for a few hours. The temperature changes when the sun disappears and often that calms weather patterns enough between bigger storms to slow and stop the rainfall, even if another storm is on the way. That brief respite often has unusual layers of clouds and always a bit of red with all the moisture in the air.

This photo is from a stormy day in late July 2021. It’s hard to take only one photo of a great sunset, especially one that’s constantly changing over a few minutes or more so I have lots of extra photos of some sunsets. I didn’t have the chance to head for an unobstructed view from a hill top at sunset but I could see from the clouds and colors that something like this was happening on the horizon where I often get the best clear view of a sunset.
