The Front Porch at the Golden Hour

The Front Porch in the Golden Hour
The Front Porch in the Golden Hour

To sit and watch the shadows fall as the sun sets behind the house.

Not my front porch but a house I visited. The “golden hour” is just about my favorite time of day for photography. Sunlight touches all it can as it descends toward the horizon as if to bid a fond goodbye, its color warms closer to gold each moment but its reflection reaches back and touches highlights in the deepening shadows. Shadows stretch across the grass and deepen in the trees, but the white rockers on the front porch glow with remembrance.

Out of all the photos I took of this scene, moving back and forth to position the rockers and porch posts and capture the windows and door. there were others in which I liked the array of the rockers or the porch posts better. But it was those two highlighted rockers, like old friends, that caught my eye in this photo.
