Old and New Allegheny county Jail What’s this medieval-looking fortress in the midst of modern buildings? It’s the Allegheny County Jail in downtown Pittsburgh. What else does one do when sitting in traffic on a perfectly clear sunny day? It’s an interesting contrast, especially seen from behind when it actually is a wall that makes it look like a fortress.
