Flowers After Frost and Freeze Tiny calico asters are still blooming after frost and freeze even when others have gone to seed. We’ve had several nights below freezing and then a frosty morning, but feverfew and asters are still producing buds that bloom, even with short days, dark ways, temperatures well below our balmy autumn. Feverfew with bronze fallen leaves. Is it wise to produce flowers that may never bloom, but freeze and wither? When all the leaves have fallen and bronzed for winter? Don’t the plants need the energy to get through the coming winter and bloom again in spring? Feverfew is lush and green with lots of flowers. They all survived another freeze. This was to be my Monday post and Tuesday we had a serious snow. The feverfew flowers above are lying low under snow, but still open. The others are under snow cover I guess we will see the outcome of that and in time see what happens. . . . . . . . Follow me on Instagram. Visit my photography galleries on Portraits of Animals.
