Fledgling Blue Jay Fledgling blue jay A fledgling blue jay hopped onto the deck rail, not sure what to do, so he talked about it. The bird water bowl is right there and no doubt it’s a regular stop for the bird’s parents, but he didn’t seem to get the idea, instead flying off. I photographed this through the screen on my back door which softened the focus and added a little refraction to the highlights, and I kind of like the effect.
