Bloomfield from a Distance Bloomfield in Pittsburgh, from a distance. This is a photo of Bloomfield, one of Pittsburgh’s older and densely populated city neighborhoods, from across the valley. It’s one of the things I love about Pittsburgh, that unique established neighborhoods mix with dense woods and greenspaces even before conservation began in earnest. With all these steep hills people developed what they could and stopped where they had to, but you can always find a tree-covered hillside or ravine as a respite to the population. This view is from Polish Hill, which I’ll photograph from Bloomfield one of these days. Bloomfield is fairly flat, but Polish Hill is “the most vertical neighborhood in Pittsburgh”, clinging to a hillside, with not one level street in the whole place. It looks really cool from a distance, though.
