A Significant Visitor A Significant Visitor A red admiral fluttered around my front yard the other day. Usually they zip around so fast it’s nearly impossible to catch a photo or even follow where they go. This one decided to land in the garden, on a branch of one of the catnip plants. No flowers yet on that branch, but there were many more nearby, just waiting for the pollinators. I only had my cell phone, not the best for capturing a photo from a distance as I tried to catch up, but this worked out okay. Red Admiral butterflies find a couple of host plants in my yard so they are around, but they also seem to show up in a place or way related to one of the felines who’ve gone on to their next life. Important for me to capture this one because the catnip is this year’s crop of Mimi’s Homegrown Catnip, and right now Mimi would be out there having a total nip party, as she did last year at this time, and many years before too. So, a little visit from a significant visitor, and a lot of memories. . . . . . . . Follow me on Instagram. Visit my photography galleries on Portraits of Animals.
