Someone’s Got to Be First The first daylily. I’ve been watching the buds for days but when it was finally out there I almost missed the first daylily to bloom lit by late afternoon sun. When I sat down at my desk I saw the bright flower between two blinds hanging on the front porch to block some sun, otherwise I might have missed it. I was actually working out there through the morning and this daylily would have been right in my face. And by the looks of it I’ll soon have dozens blooming all at once. The first day they bloom with only one flower, never more. Then three, then seven, then in a few days dozens all at once. And then it’s summer! Last year I noticed when I searched other daylily posts that the other two I shared as “the first daylily” were published on June 17 so this one is quite early. . . . . . . . Follow me on Instagram.
