Part of History

An old train trestle, well over 100 years old and abandoned for decades, yet it’s so familiar in the landscape, seeming to appear from the trees, casting its geometric shadow onto the rusty waters of the creek, always sporting some graffiti.

It’s been there so many years it’s as if it grew out of the trees and is part of the landscape. This old train trestle has crossed the creek at this bend since trains began to run through Carnegie well over 100 years ago, and it always sported some graffiti, interesting because it has no floor, just tracks and ties. It hasn’t been used in years and is covered with rust and peeling paint but I’d be surprised if it ever disappeared.
