Flying Egret

Soaring.
Soaring.

Tracking a flying bird to photograph takes concentration, and made more interesting when sitting in a car without the time to hop out before the bird is gone.

Flapping.
Flapping.

Egrets have a fairly slow wingflap so clear wings are usually successful, but I caught more birds flying away from me than toward me. I like them nonetheless, including the mix of marsh plants and trees in the background. I especially like the one below with the wings squared off, just the marsh grasses, and even grasses reflected in the water.

Flying away.
Flying away.

This is Savannah Wildlife Refuge, and this place and my niece, children and pets are squarely in the path of Hurricane Irma. They are evacuating. We are all hoping for the best.
