Blue and Gold: 2011 Blue and Gold Barely a wisp of a cloud in the sky behind the turquoise-finish domes of Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church in Carnegie, the three-bar crosses finished with bright gilt. They just finished the “finish” last fall and it still looks brand new. One dome really is taller and larger than the other, and note that it also has a lightning rod attached. Here is a post from this spring of both Eastern Rite churches on Mansfield Avenue in Carnegie: Domes. These same domes look a little more saturated blue in the spring sunlight than they do here in the summer afternoon.
